The Last Supper

Happy New Year! On Monday, I'll be embarking on the Crazy Sexy Diet Adventure Cleanse once again. No caffeine (except I'm allowing a little green tea). No alcohol. No sugar. No gluten. No processed food or additives. I'll be eating mostly plants with some gluten-free grains. Oh, and lots and lots of fresh green juice. I did it a couple years ago, and I survived. So I know I can get through it again.

But before my 21-day cleanse begins, I made one last non-CSD recipe — Tortilla Soup from Appetite for Reduction:

Actually, if I'd made this the Isa way, this soup would probably pass for the Crazy Sexy Diet cleanse, but I substituted regular tortilla chips for the baked ones she calls for in the recipe. And man was it good! I love the way the crunchy chips break down and get all soggy in the soup. The next day, this soup was super thick and even better.

You can't have soup without a grilled cheese! So I made a Grilled Daiya Cheese Sandwich on my panini press:

This wasn't actually my last meal, but it was the last new thing I've tried from a cookbook. Tonight, I made the traditional Southern black-eyed peas and cabbage for New Year's Day, and this morning I soaked up my post New Year's Eve hangover with a greasy tofu omelet from Pho Saigon. I'll be doing a full review post of this delicious Memphis vegan restaurant find after the cleanse. But tune in tomorrow for a report from day one!

Best of luck on the cleanse, Bianca. My boyfriend and I are doing one starting next week as well and I've kind of been searching for perameters. Kris Carr's sounds a lot like what I've been thinking of, but we're probably going to try to do higher raw.
Soup looks awesome; I need to use AfR more often!

Have fun! The CSD cleanse was WAY easier and way more enjoyable for me the second time around. I hope it's good for you too!

I'm feeling a cleanse too. I'm recognizing the need for a panini press after seeing your post.
