Halloween is my favorite holiday ... well, except for Christmas and my birthday. Actually, Thanksgiving is pretty cool too (yea for Tofurkey!). But I do love dressing up, slathering on the fake blood, and going out with friends on Halloween. I also love to bake for the occasion. Last night, I made these cute fall-themed Vegan Sugar Cookies:
I couldn't find a plain ol' sugar cookie recipe in my cookbooks, and the ones I've made from various Internet and Veg Times recipes in the past ended up hard and crunchy. I like a soft sugar cookie, and I remembered a recent cookie post by Katy at Legally Vegan. She swore this VegWeb recipe for Just Like Granny B's Sugar Cookies was the best thing ever!
And ... oh ... my ... goddess, she was right! These are the best sugar cookies I've ever had. They're soft. They're chewy. They're perfectly sweet and buttery. I will NEVER use another sugar cookie recipe again. Promise.
For Halloween, I'm going to my Me-Maw's Halloween party in the early evening. My grandma throws a family party every year and we eat hot dogs (veggie dogs for me!), chips and dip, and dessert. I'll share posts of my dessert contribution over the weekend. Until then, trick or treat!
your cookies are reaaaally cute!
Happy Halloween! With these great cookies, it's going to be an awesome holiday, I bet!
Have a great Halloween Bianca! It's one of my favorite holidays too. I'm going to bookmark that cookie recipe!
Amazing and festive cookies!!
Happy Halloween, Bianca!!
Happy Halloween! I made some cookies from VegWeb with a friend last weekends and they were the worst cookies ever! I wish I had yours here and now!
Sugar cookies are my kryptonite. I could eat an entire batch on my own...I just love 'em so much!
Those cookies look delicious! Last weekend we made some fun ones in a Wilton pan that makes them in little halloween molds. Yay! I used a Sarah Kramer recipe but they ended up more like tea cakes or something. But they were good!
I love your cookies, they are adorable! I need to try that recipe.
Hey, you did a hell of a lot better decorating those leaf cookies than I would have - trust me. They look really yummy and it is nice to hear of a recipe for a soft sugar cookie that is vegan!
Happy Halloween, Bianca! Adorable cookies!
I picked up a copy of Grub at the library yesterday, so I have something fun to look through after my mini trick-or-treater goes to bed tonight.
nice cookies Bianca!
I love that your grandma has a halloween party , that's awesome!
Happy Halloween! Those cookies are so cute. I love sugar cookies, especially when they're all decorated.
I haven't had sugar cookies in ages! What a cute idea to decorate them though!
Your cookies are so pretty! YAY for fun Halloween food!
Halloween and have fun at the party!
happy belated Halloween to you! your cookies look mighty tasty, as usual.
Happy Halloween!! That's my favourite holiday too. I love your leaf cookies, I didn't get around to making cookies this year, but I'll have to try next year with that sugar cookie recipe you used.
i hope your halloween was super stellar! your cookies look fantastic, and i'm totally going to try that recipe. i've never made sugar cookies - and now i want to! mmmmmmmmm! we sub whole wheat flour for white, too - it's too yummy not to!
your cookies are so perfect! i love the pumpkin. i have a question. is that a real tattoo on your wrist? i've always wondered.
Those are so cute! Happy Halloween. :)
Your cookies look great! I'm glad the recipe works with whole wheat flour. I'll definitely use that next time!
Awesome looking cookies! I too have failed miserably in the past with hard and crunchy sugar cookie recipes. I'll have to print this one out and save it. I'm going to sub the whole wheat flour too! Hope you had a happy Halloween!!!
yay for decorating desserts on Halloween! Much more fun than carving pmpkins, because you get to eat the fruits of your labor!
I almost decorated cookies too... but I switched to cupcakes at the last second!
Aww, cute cookies!
those are adorable!
These cookies look really great! Happy Halloween!
