Now, although the book has been out since September, I've not yet held a giveaway on my own blog. That's because I've been waiting for this very special occasion (my 8th veganaversary and 18th vegetarian-aversary) to do so. All you have to do is a leave a comment at the end of this post.
But first, I want to give a photo shout-out to all the other bloggers who have posted pictures of recipes from the book. Just for fun.
Not only did Joni Marie Newman (of Best Veggie Burgers on the Planet/Vegan Food Gifts fame) write me an awesome endorsement for the back cover of Cookin' Crunk, she also gave me a glowing review on her blog, Just the Food. Check out the Fried Tofu Chicken Wafflewich she made:
From Joni Marie Newman, Just the Food |
My buddy Justin Fox Burks, fellow Memphian/photographer extraordinaire/cookbook author, made my Hot Tamale Pie and posted the recipe on the Chubby Vegetarian:
Justin Fox Burks, Chubby Vegetarian |
Tofu Mom, who I like to think of as my (and everybody's) "internet mama," combined two recipes I never thought of combining — Fried Green Tomatoes and Country Buttermilk Ranch Dressing:
Tofu Mom (Marti Hall), Vegan Food: More Than Tofu and Sprouts |
Speaking of fried green tomatoes, John P of the I-40 Vegan Kitchen combined my green tomatoes with my Bringin' Home the Tempeh Bacon and my Vegan Pimento Cheese to make this mouth-watering (I know, cause I made one after I saw John's) Grant Stack Sandwich:
John Plummer, The I-40 Kitchen |
Also, while there's no pictures to post here, Lesley of Lesley Eats reviewed Cookin' Crunk for the Nashville Scene's dining blog, Bites.
Allison Rivers Samson of Allison's Gourmet interviewed me for her Fridays with Friends segment on her Sweet Talk blog.
And fellow Memphian Jennifer Chandler, author of Simply Salads, Simply Suppers, and Simply Grilling, also interviewed me on her 30-day vegetarian blog when she went meat-free for a month.
I hope I didn't forget anybody! I've had a lot of folks post pics from Cookin' Crunk on Instagram and tag me. It's so awesome to see people making my food! It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. Anyway, for a chance to win a copy, leave a comment here letting me about your favorite Southern dish. I'll randomly choose one winner on Wednesday night. Also, please leave an email address with your comment if you don't have one linked through a Blogger or Wordpress profile. I have to have a way to contact you if you win!

Thanks for that giveaway. I've heard good comments about your cookbook so I would really love to win a copy.
My favorite South Western recipe ? Hummm...difficult to say as I'm still a "novice" in South Western cuisine. So far, I enjoyed all the vegan dish I've tried.
As a native texan, I'm always experimenting to find ways to "southernize" my food. I'd love to see how you also experiment! Cheers for a great book!
I'd love to get a copy of this cookbook. I'm a fellow southerner (East TN), but I'm living in the Pacific Northwest now .. I'd love to have some recipes from home! And happy veganniversary!
I just had my first veganaversary! I would love a copy of your book - it's practically impossible to find here in Canadiana. :)
I'd love to win a copy....I'm still experimenting with vegetarianism/veganism, but I'd love to peruse it and give it as a gift to some friends who are also going vegan!
I would love a copy if this is open internationally (we're the ones who need the book most!). Southern American food is still a bit of a mystery to me (and most Australians), but I recently became aware of the idea of fried 'chicken' and waffles and it's blown my mind in the best possible way.
I would be tickled 50 Shades of Pink (*wink*) to win a copy of this book! I have been happily vegan for about 6 years now and never looked back. Wooo Hooo! Fingers and Toes crossed (Pick me! Pick me!) hahaha

Well you know I've always adored your blog! I'm so proud of all your accomplishments :)
I live in the North so I'm not sure what my favorite southern recipe is? Tator tots from Sonic? HA! I don't know... it's what I look forward to when I visit TX. We don't a Sonic near by. ANYWAY, I'm vegetarian and I've been following your blog for about two years. I don't love to cook and have zero cook books. I've been trying to make dinner each night which is a huge deal. Maybe it's time for a cook book?
As SO MANY of your friends, this already HIGHLY acclaimed and inspiring cookbook is on my Christmas list! I am SO EXCITED about the Tempeh recipies and I also heard you have a YUMMY BLACKEYED PEA HUMMUS! REALLY!?! I can't wait!! SO, my favorite dish? Gotta say Fried Chicken and Mashed Potatoes~ I have made a VERY good VEGAN combo of sesame-fried tofu with curried potatoes! YUM-O! ;) OOHHH I hope I win! Lol! HAPPY VEGAN BIRTHDAY! mucho love sister!
The only thing I really miss since becoming vegan is my grandmother's cheese grits. Do you have a recipe?
Ooh, I love grits, biscuits, cornbread, fried okra... I like lots of Southern-style food!
Biscuits and gravy, without a doubt. Sometimes I don't feel like much of a southern girl, but the amount of love i have for gravy assures me of my roots. i'd love to win your book!
Bbq. Since leaving memphis i havent had a good bbq sammich/sauce.
I'm coming up to my 3rd veganversary, this would be an awesome win- thanks for the chance!
What a perfect way to celebrate your vegan-iversary! All of those dishes look soooo good!
My favorite Southern dish would have to be a mess of collard greens. It's one of my favorite go-to sides.
I love the term" veganaversary" that you came up with! Congrats on making it to eight years for vegan and 18 years for vegetarian! My 10th veganversary is just around the corner next April! I have been drooling over the recipes from this cookbook since it came out and would love a copy to bring some of the South out west to Montana! I'd love to have a copy of your Crunkin' cookbook...your recipes totally rock! My most favorite Southern delight is cornbread. I could eat it everyday. Actually I did when I worked across the street from a bakery. Those were the days. :)
Love the pics! Looks sooooo good! Happy vegsnniversary! What better way to celebrate than to share the vegan love of food with a cook book giveaway!

Oh how I would love to get my grubby little paws on your book! I am the lone veg-head in a household of omnis, so I am always looking for new recipes to make that are super delicious and keep them happy as well.
This southern girl drools with eery recipe I see from yor baby! How I'd love copy!
I need to make that sandwich again! I made your beef seitan yesterday and used it for finger steaks - so good!
As someone who grew up in a family that was from the south, I want this cookbook so badly! I don't know if I can pick a favorite southern dish. Fried anything, really. Or possibly biscuits and gravy. Cornbread and pinto beans is also really good, especially with a mess of greens.
I have a kid who is vegetarian which has really changed the way I cook.....and I can't have dairy. So we are serendipitous vegans, I suppose!
I want a vegan version of southern fried chicken! And I would love to win this book! Will you email the winner?
After living in Tennessee for a few years, I gained an appreciation for bbq.

BBQ beans and charred corn, spicy okra chased with fresh vinegary coleslaw. Southern food makes vegetables party!
I think any type of greens dish, and I've also recently discovered black eyed peas. I can't believe I went 40 years without trying them!
This looks amazing! I'm so excited there is something out there for naughty vegans like myself to indulge in ;) I would have to say my favorite southern dish would be anything with gravy on it and ooey gooey mac n cheese.

Thanks!
This Summer I kind of became obsessed with what I started to call Southern Veggie and Potato Fry. It's a variation on a recipe from "Cookin' Southern Vegetarian Style." The original recipe calls for okra, but I rarely had enough to harvest at the same time, so I started using other things - eggplant, beans, you name it. My favorite turned out to be okra, potatoes, and rattlesnake snap beans. Tossed with a cornmeal breading type deal, and fried up. Yum!!!
I'm from the UK so probably can't enter but what I really want to find a good recipe is for a southern fried chicken as my other half often craves it and I would love to recreate it for him!
I am hoping for your book for Christmas and can't wait to try the recipes!
I know you put together some seriously amazing recipes in this cookbook, I've been seeing pictures for months now and the book is sitting in my wishlist! Would love to win a copy and save some cash!
Fried okra is my Southern food jam. I could eat it all day long and be a happy camper!
Favorite southern dish --- Macaroni and cheese --- of course!! Would love to have you book to try all sorts of new vegan southern dishes!!! They all sound amazing.

Hope I win!
I've been holding out for an ebook, but I'd love to have a copy to share in my vegan-heavy house.
I've been trying to ration my cookbook purchases, but would love to add this to my collection. Especially after visiting Souley Vegan in California.
I'm a Texas girl, born and raised! What Southern dish DON'T I love??? It's been so much fun veganizing all of my favorites over the years - chili, tacos, fried chik'n, mac and cheese! I'd love to try your versions. Everything on your website always looks amazing!
A copy of this book would be a great addition to my small but growing vegan cook-book library. I have a friend (ex-vegan) who has a blog where she used to post Southern vegan recipes (http://www.urbanfig.blogspot.com/2011/01/apple-cherry-crisp.html) - I was always hoping that she would put together a book of her 'southern cooking vegan recipes' - now it seems you're already there!
Red velvet cake! I'll have to check if I linked my email. If not, it's cutedemocrat (at) gmail (dot) com
Pimento cheese sammiches.
Your book would be a swell present for my birthday tomorrow.
My favorite Southern dish would have to be any type of cobbler. Congrats on your veg-a-versary!
Pecan pie! And just overindulged this Thanksgiving! Congratulations, and thanks for the chance!
Biscuits and gravy! But probably only because I'm not well-schooled in the way of southern eats. :)
Thanks, and congrats on your veganiversary!
Congrats on your veganaversy! I'd love to win a copy of your cookbook -- I've been dreaming of Fried Tofu Chicken Wafflewiches since reading Joni's review. :)
The Barbeque Cauliflower from Soul Vegetarian in ATL is probably the best veganized southern dish I've ever had. Simple and wonderful. And even though it's deep fried before being sauced, it still 'feels' healthier/lighter than other main dishes with tofu/tempeh/etc.
Mmmmmm fried green tomatoes! I need this cookbook!
Grits! However I make 'em that particular day.
Although tonight I'm pan frying some hominy, so maybe pan-fried hominy will become my favorite. Whoknows.
My children (11 and 16) decided to go vegan, and I really don't want to mess up their chances for success with gross food. 8 years and all these recipes give me some hope that I might be able to keep us all vegan!
I love southern cooking. I think I'm a southern belle at heart. I would love a copy of your book.
Squash casserole and biscuits and gravy. I know, that's two. But seriously.
Dandelion Greens. I'm not sure if they are considered Southern though.
I have a few go-to recipes to win over my southern friends, but I could always use more. I'm excited to get my hands on this cook one way or another.
Let me try that again...My favorite southern meal is pinto beans, greens, cornbread and fried okra or squash...YUMMMMM. But your fried green tomatoes look damn tasty!
If you're willing to ship overseas, I would love a chance to win. I love love love everything corn bread, and also fried green tomatoes. Yum.

I am so stoked that your book is finally out, and the cover is SO awesome. I don't have a Southern dish in particular that is a favorite, but that Tamale Pie looks insane! I'd love to try it out. :)
Everything here in this blog is yummy and delicious. Thanks for sharing these tasty recipes.
All southern cooking can't be like Paula Deen's! Please don't let it be so! That's why I'd love a copy of your book. I'm originally from the south .... the south Bronx that is! Thank you. kesslereb@yahoo.com
Collard green, yams, black-eyed peas and cornbread!

I love garlicky collard greens and fried okra (ok that's 2 but I can't pick a favorite)
Hmmm does Mac n Cheese count as southern? I also like potato salad (mmm carbs....) and pretty much anything in bbq sauce.
here's my email: jennybunny_@hotmail.com
Favorite southern dish is probably corn bread, greens, black eyed peas. (for new years luck!) Or mac n cheese, although I don't see it as particularly southern.
My favorite southern foods would have to be collards and chow chow (what my husband's ma ma called the relish she made), butter beans, tops and bottoms (what she called turnip salad with the greens and root), and crouter peas.
Chick'n and waffles! Is that even Southern? I'm from MN so I would love to discover more Southern dishes.
