Peanut-free Nut Butter Giveaway!!

I'm not allergic to peanut butter (or any foods, actually), and for that, I am eternally grateful to the universe. Peanut butter is right up there with pizza and french fries and ramen as a favorite food. I probably eat something peanut butter-flavored or with straight-up peanut butter at least every other day. Sometimes, I just dip my finger in the jar.

So I'll admit I was a little hesitant to believe that Wowbutter, a peanut-free toasted soynut butter, could be as good as (or better than) peanut butter. I love all nut butters, but not all nut butters are created equal. And, in my humble opinion, peanut butter has always reigned supreme over almond, cashew, hazelnut, or any other nut butter. But the folks at Wowbutter offered to send me a few sample jars, and I WAS BLOWN AWAY. IT'S SO GOOD, Y'ALL!

This toasty, creamy, sweet 'n' slightly salty nut butter is designed to be safe for schools since so many kids are allergic to peanut butter these days (what's up with that anyway?). I'm kid-free, and my house is a total peanut butter zone, so the safety isn't a concern for me. But I can see where this would be handy for parents. It's also gluten-free and gmo-free, and each serving has 7 grams of protein, 4 grams of fiber, and a healthy dose of omega-3s.

The most amazing thing is the flavor. It's so toasty! I've eaten straight soy nuts before, and they're good. Not as good as peanuts. And that's why I wasn't expecting the flavor of Wowbutter to be so impressive. But I daresay that I think it's — gasp — better than peanut butter. At least, that's how I'm feeling lately. I cannot stop eating this stuff. I've been spreading it on sandwich thins before runs, eating it on bananas, adding it to smoothies. It's just so good. There's something about it that reminds me of the PB of my childhood, back when we all used to eat Peter Pan or Jif or one of those hydrogenated oil-containing peanut butters. But Wowbutter is totally free hydrogenated oils and trans fats, and the sugar used is cane sugar.

Since they sent me several jars, I'd like to give one away to a lucky reader! Leave me a comment here about your favorite use of nut butter, and I'll randomly choose a winner. U.S. readers only, please (because international shipping isn't in my budget right now!). Contest runs through Sunday night (July 17th). BE SURE TO INCLUDE AN EMAIL ADDRESS (unless you know I know how to contact you — like through another blog or if we're FB friends).

I love to make peanut butter toast! I like to put the buttered toast back in the warm toaster for a couple minutes to make the nut butter extra melty.

I wouldn't call that allergen free. I'm allergic to soy.

Peanut butter toast with a drizzle of honey on top is my fav. And I agree with you generally that PB is hard to beat even though I like most of the other nut butters. That said, I think sunflower butter is possibly even better. So rich and creamy. I don't know if that's cheating because it's a seed and not a nut, but then again peanuts aren't nuts. Hope I win :-) (jeffreymwatts2@gmail.com)

On basically anything, but honestly, I love it straight out of the jar the best! True story: I once sleep ate an entire jar of peanut butter. Woke up with the spoon stuck in my hair and the empty jar clutched in my arms.

Ohhh, this sounds yummy and I haven't heard of it before! My daughter has severe peanut and treenut allergies, so we are totally stuck in sunbutter land in my house (which I like, but...I miss peanut butter!) I like to make little snacks with medjool dates stuffed with Sunbutter. Peanut butter cookies are my favorite use of PB though! michelle (at) myzoetrope (dot) com

Ooh, I'd love to try this as I've been allergic to peanuts my whole life. My favorite uses for nut butter (almond in my case) are in a sauce with noodles and fresh veggies, in a smoothie, or just on top of a banana!

Warmed in the microwave with a wee bit of my sisters home canned Kentucky Bar Fight jam then drizzled over nice cream! Perfect hot summer day treat.

I love peanut butter cookies, so most of my peanut butter goes into making those! I also LOVE peanut butter spread on crumpets.

I am always paying attention to these non-peanut spreads. Just incase my kids have to go to a peanut-free school, or you know, they are allergic. Besides that, let's face it, it is always good to switch things up once in a while to get a variety of foods.

As a dip for pretzels. I need to start trying nut free butters for my daughter - she is just a baby but once she's bug enough her daycare is nut-free!

I've actually never tried anything other than peanut butter. However, I absolutely love PB&J sandwiches, so I would try replacing the peanut butter with it.

I know the contest is over but wow this product looks amazing!!!!!!!! I sadly have horrifying food allergies (the kind that kill you). They were what led me to my vegan diet actually (though I love vegan food and not eating animals tbh!). I've also had to follow a histamine restriction diet which is brutal. Every pleasure food is NO. No chocolate. No fermented products (salad dressing how!!!). No berries (there is no god). No gluten (URGH all my fake meat+++). No tomatoes (KETCHUP, pasta, goodbye). No "Natural Flavors" (which in America, is in EVERYTHING DAMNIT!). It's ROUGH. *^*

BUT I CAN EAT SOY. Soy is my friend as long as it's not some processed craziness. This looks like...I might be able to eat it. I am almost crying because the last time I ate a spread like this...I can't even remember. I am not allowed to have nuts which is horrible. I used to love almonds, cashews, peanuts, macadamia nuts, and pistachios so much. *^* No peanut butter!!!!!! But I can have soy! I am going to look into this right away. I'd be so happy if I could eat it! I'd make smoothies with it...omg I'd do so much with it! But first I'd do what I used to do when I was little - just dip a spoon into it and nom one big spoonful yum. I hope the ingredients are okay! *crosses fingers*
