Banana Brulee Oats

The lovely Miss Katie at Chocolate Covered Vegan has discovered the darndest thing! Microwaving a banana creates a big ole pile of creamy, caramelized banana-y goodness. She and other vegan bloggers have been enjoying this find stirred into wholesome oats. Katie's posted a ton of pictures of the variations on her Banana Brulee Oats. But mine was quite simple. I give you Banana Brulee Oats, Elvis-Style:

As a Memphian, I'm obliged to love the King's fave food combo — peanut butter and banana. Lucky for me, that love comes quite naturally. Especially when that peanut butter is White Chocolate Wonderful and the banana is caramelized. I also added some maple syrup to my steel cut oats for extra sweetness.

For the banana trick, simply microwave a broken-up banana with a tablespoon or so of water for about two minutes. It gets all melty and creamy. Plop it atop your oats and dress as desired.

I love you, Bianca! You're so sweet I can't stand it! Seriously. Remember when I said I wanted to move in with you? Well, I'm packing my bags ;).

(Yikes, I don't mean to sound creepy!)

P.S. Elvis might just want to move in with you too.

i would die without bananas and pb. just die.

on another note, i **heart** toilet humor too. i read your comment on CCk's blog and couldn't agree more about being a 16 year old boy trapped in the body of a 26 year old woman! bring on the fart jokes, i say.

What a nice breakfast with warm bananas. We don't have a microwave so I'll have to stick with raw bananas in my oatmeal.

Mmm I bet it'd be even better with Dark Chocolate Dreams! though I'd happily sit down to your exact brekkie as is every day :)

You joined Katie's bananawagon! (my new favorite word)

Elvis would have been proud... and drooling! :)

Isn't that White Chocolate Wonderful peanut butter the best thing ever?

Hi Bianca! I had this today for breakfast with almond butter and everyone in my office was sooo jealous! Thanks for your sweet comment on my blog and for adding me to your roll. I could have sworn I had you on mine, but quickly remedied the sitch when I found out I hadn't! :)

Katie's oatmeal recipes are so good and now you've made one of them even better! Maybe a few cacao nibs on top take it up one more notch.

I'll have to try that for dessert - I get all woozy if I have a banana at breakfast. Haven't tried it with oats in the am though, I could try it on a weekend I 'spose. :)

I made this with muesli today. Also delish! Thanks for another way to enjoy bananas!

Bananas are probably one of the greatest fruits ever. They can be cooked whether they're green, yellow or brown.
