In the past, on my January resets, I often felt pretty bored on the weekends since I was all about restriction and either cut out alcohol entirely or gave myself extreme limits (like one glass of wine per weekend). But this year, the only thing I'm cutting out IS restriction! Granted, I'm setting some goals for things like booze and sugar (moderation, special occasions), but this time, I'm not allowing myself to feel guilt or shame for eating or drinking whatever I feel like.
But back to booze in a few. Let's start with Friday morning! I had a Pecan Pie Larabar before hitting my weekly bootcamp glass at the gym. Then I came home and had another couple Ginger Maple Carrot Muffins and a Banana (pictured here in Thursday's post).
I'd planned to leave work around noon for lunch on Friday and come home to my leftover Slow Cooker Lentil Soup, but an 11 am meeting was moved to 11:40 am, and I knew it'd be at least 1 pm before I could run home for lunch. So I went downstairs to I Love Juice Bar and got this large Fresh Greens Juice (it was punch card freebie!).
That held me over until 1, when I went home for my lentil stew (also pictured here in Thursday's post). Dinner on Friday was a big salad with my leftover Chickpea Tofu from Power Vegan Meals, plus toasted pumpkin and sunflower seeds, veggies, and tahini dressing.
Friday on Reclaim & Revolt is check-in day. There are no new lessons, but everyone is encouraged to check in on the private Google Group and discuss how their week has gone. Plus, the weekend gives everyone a chance to get caught up on all the content Lacy, Hannah, Erin, and Kelsey have been sending us all week. For example, I finally got a chance to make a recipe for an essential oil salt scrub that Erin sent us a recipe for on Wednesday. I took a nice, relaxing bath with this cedar-rosemary-chamomile scrub on Friday night. And I had wine!
I told myself I could have as much wine as I wanted, and I thought I might have two glasses. But I ended up just having the one because that was all I wanted. This whole eating (and drinking) intuitively thing is really good for me. I rarely check in to ask myself what I really want, and now I'm doing that.
On Saturday morning, I slept in, ate more muffins and a banana, and then did Erin's energy workout video that's designed to clear out negative energy. It was a nice 20-minute, low-impact movement series.
For my morning snack, I made some Sprouted Grain Tortilla Chips using Ezekiel wraps baked in the oven until crisp. I dipped those in guacamole and cashew queso while cleaning the house. I've gotten into the habit of always snacking while cleaning, and it makes cleaning so much more fun.
Lunch on Saturday was the last of my Chickpea, Potato & Spinach Soup from last Tuesday, plus a side salad with olive oil-balsamic vinaigrette.
I went grocery shopping for the upcoming week on Saturday afternoon, and then I made this awesome Baked Sweet Potato with Chickpea Guacamole from Lacy's recipes. I love the idea of adding chickpeas to guac! You can't really see it, but there was tahini underneath the guac.
After dinner, we binge-watched some Sopranos, and I had a glass of wine. Again, I thought I'd have two. And maybe some popcorn. But I wasn't actually hungry since I'd eaten a late dinner, so I skipped the popcorn. And I wasn't feeling a second glass of wine.
On Sunday morning, I woke up early and made another of Lacy's Savory Chickpea Pancakes (the same breakfast I had on day one of Reclaim & Revolt) — this time topped with sauteed broccoli, bell pepper, carrot, and onion, plus avocado, oil-free hummus, and salsa. YUM! The pancake stuck to the pan a bit, so it was more of a scramble. But still delicious.
My friend Cassi was hosting a Burlesque Brunch at our fave gay bar, Dru's Place, Sunday morning, so I met some friends there around 10:30 am. I skipped the meal since I'd already eaten at home (and nothing was vegan anyway), but I didn't pass up the Mimosas! I had two this time because my intuition told me too. :-) I will say, there was a champagne fountain, and I managed to only re-fill my glass from it once.
The show was over by 1:30 pm, so I headed home and had another baked sweet potato with chickpea guac.
Then I got to work on meal prep for the week, and I made some awesome dinner for tonight — Ruby Hued Borscht with Cashew Sour Cream, another awesome Lacy recipe! This had beets, potatoes, carrots, onion, cabbage, and tomatoes, and it was just perfect.
Oh, I don't mean to pry, but I thought Cassi owned a vegan food business? Isn't that the same Cassi?
ReplyDeleteThat baked sweet potato and guac chickpea combo sounds really good! I really love borscht and need to tackle making my own, i think versions i have had before lacked potatoes and weren't very filling as a meal.

Hi Sarah C! She used to own a vegan food business, but that is no longer in operation. The event was catered by an outside company. She was open to doing vegan options herself (outside of the catering company), but I just opted to have my brunch at home first!
