If you're in the Atlanta area, stop by Atlanta VegFest this Saturday, November 12th at the Cobb County Civic Center! I'll be demo-ing a couple of recipe from my cookbook, Cookin' Crunk. The book, a collection of vegan Southern favorites, came out way back in 2012, but they asked me back, so of course I said yes!
Atlanta is home to my favorite VegFest of all the ones I've been to. It seems more vegan culture/ethics-centric. Not that health isn't an issue at the fest, but food and culture seem more the focus, and I prefer the fests that put emphasis on all the delicious things vegans can eat (and that includes doughnuts and fried things!).
It'll be my third time demo-ing and signing books at the Atlanta Fest, and I can't wait. This year, I'll be demonstrating two recipes from my book. I chose my Creamy Cashew Mac & Cheese because I thought it'd be fun to discuss the wonders of cashew-based cheese sauces. And I'll be sharing my quick tip for soaking cashews in a crunch.
And I'll also be making my Dill Weed Potato Salad, a quick vegan tater salad with green olives and jalapenos. Of course, there will be samples of both dishes!
I'm thrilled to be presenting alongside Dr. Michael Greger, vegan NFL player David Carter, hip-hop & health power couple Stic and Afya, vegan ultramarathoner Sid Garza-Hillman, and Ethical Choices president Lorena Mucke.
That is so awesome! I wish I could come see. Your potato salad looks amazing. I have to admit I've never had potato salad with jalapenos and olives, but I want to now! Have so much fun!!
ReplyDeleteYou're going to be great! I wish I lived in the area and could go see your demo. It sounds like a fun event!
ReplyDeleteThat's amazing, I'm so excited for you! I wish I was local so I could come out and see you. You'll just have to come to NY some time :)
ReplyDeleteI should have looked at the schedule sooner. I've been planning to come to this for weeks, but didn't know you'd be there. WE met in Memphis when I was there in 2006- 2008. Do you have a place to stay? I live in Marietta, about 6 minutes from CCCC.
ReplyDeleteHi Kim!!! I hope to see you there! :-) I do have a place to stay since my publisher is covering the hotel room cost, but I really appreciate the offer! Thanks so much!
