Two days down, nineteen more to go. Day two on the Crazy Sexy Diet cleanse was much, much easier than day one. I started the day with a green smoothie rather than a green juice, and that filled me up much longer. This Green Guru Smoothie was made with avocado, banana, romaine, agave, cucumber, and probiotic powder:
I'm trying to stick to recipes from Crazy Sexy Diet throughout the cleanse, although any juice, green smoothie, or raw recipe would probably be fine. But I know I'm sticking with the most alkaline foods if I simply follow Kris Carr's suggested recipes.
Around 10:30 a.m., I snacked on a gala apple. And then at lunch, I had some leftover Buddha Bowl — brown rice, broccoli, chickpeas, carrots, onion, hemp seeds, ground flax, and soy sauce. Of course, I just noticed that my soy sauce has gluten and sugar, so I bought some gluten-free soy sauce to use for the rest of the cleanse:
Also for lunch, I had a Woodstock Peace Salad, which is really just a big ole garden salad with a homemade tahini-garlic dressing:
My afternoon snack was Celery Sticks with Raw Almond Butter:
Dinner was more leftovers of the Choosing Raw "Peanut" Noodles from yesterday:
And I baked a Sweet Potato and topped it with Artisana Raw Coconut Butter, salt, and pepper:
If you read yesterday's post, you'll see that I ate pretty much the same stuff for lunch and dinner. Since juicing is way expensive, I'm trying to off-set the cost of the cleanse by making enough food to eat the leftovers for a few days. That's how I manage in real life too (i.e. when I'm not cleansing), so it makes sense.
Hey, I'm planning on starting this on Wednesday (today's the last day of my vacation). The two things that hit me were that the recipes were all for many people (I'm cooking for one), and the juicing--I don't have a juicer.
ReplyDeleteYou seem to have covered both those--I need something bigger in the mornings (I think, I'll give a juice bar a try tomorrow), so veggie smoothies should work and I've seen some recipes I can cut back, others will just be repeated.
I look forward to hearing how things go for you!
Your Buddha Bowl looks delicious :)I'm doing the 21 Day Vegan Kickstart once again, that I can manage :), wasn't quite together to do the CSD cleanse, but living vicariously through your posts :)
ReplyDeleteFirst of all let me say that I love your blog. I live in Nashville so its great to see another fellow Tennessean struggling to eat vegan in the dirty south. With that said, I just bought the book! A few weeks ago I did a 2 week vegan cleanse (I have been vegan for a year now, but found myself in vegan junk food hell). In addition to normal vegan diet I cut out caffeine, gluten and ::drumroll: SOY. Honestly, it wasn't hard. It just forced me to eat mostly fruit and vegetables. I started to feel good again, but once the 2 weeks was over I started falling back into my comfort foods. I am hoping this 21-day cleanse will stick with me longer. Routing for you, Bianca! Wish me luck!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, what type of juicer do you use?
ReplyDeleteYou go girl! I find this highly interesting (and it's looking delicious), very keen on hearing how you are feeling as you progress.
ReplyDeleteYou are an inspiration-and your blog is such fun at the same time thank you!

Definitely trying that Buddha Bowl.. It looks even tastier than yesterday!!!! And sweet potato with coconut cream sounds divine!
ReplyDeleteyou may want to make a change and not eat anything with nuts in the evening, especially while doing a cleanse. nuts and nut butters are taxing on the digestive system and therefore eating them at night will cause energy to be lost in digestion that could be used for cleansing and rebuilding cells. good luck Bianca!
ReplyDeleteRick
Hey Jess! Nice to meet you too. Us Southern vegans have to stick together. :-) As for my juicer, I use a Jack Lalanne.
ReplyDeleteRick, not so sure I'll always avoid nuts in the evening, but I'll try. I'm doing good just to accomplish what I am. I ate that celery with nut butter around 4:30, but I don't go to bed until almost 1 a.m. The "peanut" noodles are actually nut-free.
Keep up the posts. I'm starting this too although I'm slowly getting organized since it takes some prep. Did a green juice this morning and have a smoothie coming up -- I did have green tea (usually a coffee drinker) and some hot cacao. And that was all before 10!! Woops.

I agree smoothies last longer with me rather than juicing. and I also do that, eat left overs alot to offset cost, sometimes left overs taste better the next day. Will definitly have to try the budda bowl!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks great. I love Buddha Bowls!
ReplyDeleteLove how your picture on the side has you eating a donut.
ReplyDeleteI agree juicing is really expensive, I find smoothies much more manageable. I found the low sugar (even low fruit) part of the cleanse nearly impossible for me. I admire your determination
Hey Bianca! I bought CSD about a year back and have yet to be brave enough to attempt the challenge. I look forward to hearing more abot how you embrace the changes! For me, I like a lot of cooked foods throughout the day, and I see you're able to make that happen. I really like your strategy of eating leftovers to keep costs lower.
ReplyDeleteYou're definitely an inspiration to try a cleanse! All of this food/these juices look so delicious. How gassy are you with all these raw veggies?! :P
ReplyDeleteMmmm...I think even I could do a cleanse if there were sweet potatoes involved! And that Buddha Bowl looks pretty fancy too :)
ReplyDeleteLove this cleanse and thinking I should do it again!! I blogged about it the first time-seemed easier than a total juice cleanse. As you can still eat regular food!
