Pizza and Donuts! And a Free Stuff for You!

Stay tuned at the end of this post for an awesome giveaway!

Last night, I posted pictures of my sweet haul from Vegan Essentials, courtesy of Mama and Papa Crunk. But I deliberately left out the two favorite items in my latest order. I saved the best for last. I may be the last vegan in the world to try Daiya Cheese, and I'm honestly not sure what I was waiting for. Here's my first pack of Daiya Italian Cheese Shreds:

And here's my Daiya gettin' all melty-melty on a slice of Vegan Supreme Pizza:

This stuff is rad. It's way meltier than Teese and tastes way more authentic. In fact, this may be the best-tasting/best-melting vegan cheese I've tried (still haven't tried Cheezly). It was perfect atop this whole wheat crust with homemade tomato sauce, Gimme Lean vegan sausage, bell peppers, black olives, and red onions.

Here's an extreme close-up shot to prove just how melty this stuff really is:

My pizza was seriously amazing, but nothing could top these Vegan Donuts from Larsen's Bakery:

These fresh-baked cuties are available on Vegan Essentials, and they come un-iced to ensure freshness. There's 11 donuts in a box, with the extra space reserved for a tub of sweet, sweet white icing. They freeze wonderfully, so no stress if you can't eat 11 donuts before they go stale (but seriously, if you can't do that, something is wrong with you). Oh, and they're yeasted donuts! That means they're more like Krispy Kreme than Little Debbie. Hells yea.

Here's one that I warmed in the oven, messy iced, decorated with sprinkles, and shoved in my mouth:

Now for the fun part: My daddy (a.k.a. Papa Crunk) called me today and asked if I'd be interested in giving away a $25 gift certificate to one lucky random reader for Valentine's Day. He's paying the tab because he's just awesome like that. So you can order donuts, Daiya, Go Max Go bars, whatever tickles your fancy.

Here's how to enter: Leave a comment on this post letting me know what vegan product(s) you have to order (or would like to order) online because they're not available where you live. If you live in a vegan mecca, like Portland, where everything is available, just mention a product that you can't live without.

For extra entries, tweet a link to this contest on Twitter and leave another comment letting me know you tweeted (or twatted or whatever you call that). You can also post a link on Facebook and leave yet another comment for a max number of three entries per reader.

I'll leave the contest open until Wednesday, February 10th at 10 p.m. CST. A winner will be announced in next Thursday night's post. If your comment doesn't link back to a blog, please leave your email address in your comment (you can write it like this — name[at]whatever[dot]com — to avoid spammers). Your email will be required to send an e-gift certificate from Vegan Essentials.

Happy Contesting!

  4. First of all, your dad is seriously generous and amazing! Living in LA, I'm pretty lucky, but I do need to order vegan supplements online (Vegan Essentials is my online retailer of choice). Thanks, Papa Crunk!

  5. We order lots of donuts from Vegan Essentials. And then they are gone in a flash.

DH likes their chewing gum with xylitol.

Also, we order many of our vegan vitamins and supplements from them.

  6. I always drool over the ABC and Liz Lovely cookies on veganessentials.com because I can't get them in Vancouver...but it costs me the price of a two-way bus ride just to ship the damn things! And who has the time to bus across the border just for cookies (not that I haven't made the time before...)???!!! Anyways, I could really use that gift certificate!!!

The closest thing to vegan cheese around here is artificial fake cheese...you know the stuff, it is like a dollar for 32oz. I would like to try Daiya, I was a cheeseaphobe before being vegan, and I miss it alot. I would share my winnings with others....lol, no I wouldn't.....But I would blog about it!

  28. Hi, so excited to have find your blog thru Cooking for a Vegan Lover on Facebook. I'm a longtime veg/now vegan (12 years) from CA, living in Be'er Sheva, Israel. There are so many amazing vegan goodies that I can't find here and miss soooo much. That vegan cheese looks amazing, I'd love to try that. Some other things I'd love to order that we don't have here; mimic creme, the vegan buffalo wings (I LOVE those!!!), any vegan cookies... I am getting better at vegan baking, going to try the chocolate raspberry cookies from Veganomicon later today :) Thanks for letting me enter! Shared on my facebook just now. I live all the way out here in India. So basically I don't get ANY of the Vegan Goodies! Thankfully, we often have friends traveling here from the US who kindly bring back the goodies we've ordered online and gotten shipped to their US loaction. Plus Vegan Essentials ship internationally... they rock! :)

I'd love to order a big bunch of chocolates. A variety of these bars from Go Max Go http://store.nexternal.com/shared/StoreFront/default.asp?CS=vegane&StoreType=BtoC&Count1=328701198&Count2=245841622&CategoryID=1&Target=products.asp

Where I live almost none of these products are available. I thought about ordering some daiya a while ago, but it is so expensive with the ice pack shipping... I would really like to try it. I have also never had soy curls, and I'd like to try them in barbecue sauce. Also, those candy bars. I covet them. Okay, I'll stop, because now I'm drooling.

    ReplyDelete

I live in the east-coast Portland and while we are pretty vegan friendly, there is still stuff you can't get and I have a list going - waiting for Cheezly to get back in stock. Besides Cheezly, I NEEEEED to try some of those fabulous candy bars you posted The peanut butter cups looked awesome!), I am almost out of egg replacer, am going to try Ener-G this time around, We Can't Say It's Cheese looks good... all good stuff!

    ReplyDelete
  52. I just got Daiya Italian blend, too- best pizza ever!!

I've been dying to try Go Max Go Candy Bars for a while, so that would probably be the first thing I ordered.

Newly vegan (3 whole weeks now!) I would have a hay day on this site for sure.

I would definitely get the same shredded daiya as you, looks awesome. I'd also get a Parmesan substitute. Last I'd get the vegan white chocolate chips! I have been looking for some and have been unsuccessful.

  60. Hey!!! Man, your pizza and donuts look amazing! I love your Dad. He's the coolest.

Um, so I would like to enter. I've never ordered a vegan product online, so I'm new to all of it! But, through the info in your blogs, I've always wanted to try Teese, but now I guess I should try Daiya cheese too! And I would love to order some of those tamales and candy bars from your last post! Sooo, I'm pretty certain you have my email, but I can always send it again if I happen to win! Love you and your Dad!

  61. whoa! what an awesome v-day gift! i can't even begin to think what i would order since it's always a struggle to find things around here... but first up i would definitely go for the daiya cheese. i've seen so many blog recipes proclaiming it's awesomeness - i'd love to get my hands on some!

    ReplyDelete
  62. That daiya is amazing - I love it! As for what I would love to order...I've never had any of the Sweet and Sara products, so I would probably go with one of the vegan S'mores. MMM!

  73. Aw, what a sweetheart your dad is! That's so nice of him!

My Daiya went moldy before I got a chance to try it when I ordered last summer! If I win, I will definitely order some more of that, and to be totally unoriginal, I would also buy those donuts. I have not had a donut for probably 5 years, and those just made my mouth water! YUM! (I might actually even make some donuts for tomorrow morning now that I'm craving them...)

I'd also pick up some DEVA vitamins & maybe some chocolates in honor of Valentine's Day. Vegan Essentials is my favorite!

  77. While I can get Daiya ON pizzas from two local pizza joints, I've never had the chance to try it at home because no stores sell it. It's really the only purposefully vegan product I'd ever want to order online. I've heard people go crazy and get Daiya overload (which hopefully I wouldn't do!).

    ReplyDelete
  78. I'm very new to the idea of going vegan. I have been vegetarian for a little over a year now, but I notice that most days I eat a vegan diet. I would love to try any kind of vegan cheese. It is one of the only reasons I say vegetarian instead of vegan! Oh, and soft serve ice cream!

I'd love to order some Daiya, but can't see myself paying $20+ (because of the shipping) for a couple of ounces of cheese. So, I'll have to do without for the time being.

    ReplyDelete
  92. oh my gosh! Papa Crunk is so cool!
I've known that from reading your blog for all this time, but really!

YES to daiya cheese. We don't have it here locally - so unless I make it up to San Francisco, which doesn't happen often, I have to go without. I really want to try the cheddar variety. Also, I would probably order some Sjaaks nuts and chews caramels, because they ARE. AMAZING.

    fun! :)

  102. I live in england and although we can get Sheeze, Cheezly, and Tofutti pretty easily, Teese and Daiya are nowhere to be found! I've found that Sheeze and Cheezly don't melt at all but still taste alright. I would LOVE to try a proper melty vegan cheese. I've tried a little bit of Follow Your Heart (a friend brought it over from America) and that was getting close to melty, but there was still a way to go!

Other things I'd love to get would be the vegan chocolate bars (why do people think vegans only want fruit, nuts, or mint in their bars? I want caramel and nougat too - I want to be unhealthy sometimes!) and marshmallows. Mmm... I want to make s'mores. We had a BBQ here once and I, the vegan, was the only one apart from the American who knew what s'mores were (and I couldn't even eat them because they used non-vegan marshmallows).

  104. They use Daiya cheese at a local restaurant in Raleigh, NC and I love it. They do not sell it around here, so I have not had the pleasure of purchasing it.

One thing I can't live without ordering is Sweet & Sara's Vegan Marshmallows. They are awesome. The website says that our local Whole Foods sell them, but I have yet to locate them in the store. In the meantime, I have to order them. I like to make vegan crispy treats, smores, and like to add some to hot chocolate. Mmmm...

    ReplyDelete
  105. Oh man, you can't get so many things around here. I would get Daiya, soy curls, and something decadent like those donuts. My birthday is coming up soon, so I would want to try a vegan cake mix too...yum....(p.s. your dad must be the best and I want that pizza :)

    ReplyDelete
  106. Oh my! What lovely looking goodies you got! There are so many things I would love to try (dandies, GoMaxGo bars, Dr. Cow cheese...)

You are a rock star! So cool of you to be so supportive of your daughter's vegan choices, I applaud you.

If I were to get the chance to order from Vegan Essentials, DEVA vitamins would be first on my list. Despite having some great health food stores in the Denver area, this is one product that just isn't carried and would be great to start taking a supplement that I'm 100% comfortable with.

Thanks again and good luck to all!

  124. Holy cow there are a ton of comments on this post! You are def not the last vegan to try Daiya Cheese...I haven't either and I would love to! I can't find it where I am :-( AND, since I don't have a twitter account OR a FB account, this one entry is going to have to be very lucky for me so I can hopefully try it soon!

Thanks so much to your dad--he sounds like a great guy :-)

  126. I would love to try Upton's seitan. I've heard about it but no one sells it here. I also would want to get some vegan marshmallows.

Love your blog, I grew up in Memphis and have similar taste as far as what's good (and how long to cook your greens!)

  127. Definitely some Goji berries, whole wheat couscous, anasazi beans, and some ivory lentils.

  131. Awesome giveaway!!

I love vegan essentials for their vitamin selection. Vegan vitamins are nowhere to be found where I live, and I spend quite a but everytime I place an order. Were I to win the giveaway, I would order some cheezly because it's the best vegan cheese I've ever had. The pizza parlor near me used to offer it, but they've since switched to daiya. Daiya is good, but I prefer cheezly. I would also love to try those candy bars!!

    ReplyDelete
  132. oh gosh. is it bad that i want the donuts? if so, i don't care, because they look so good. i also want to try the homemade seitan products on the site right now. and rice whip. but not all three at the same time.
    ps. you rule, papa crunk!

  150. hooray for the daiya cheeze! dan and i found some at our local natural foods store the other day and picked up some - it was so delicious! i'm totally jealous of the vegan donuts - good idea on being able to freeze them, and i like that the frosting comes separate. w00t! your parents are too awesome - that's too sweet of your dad to host the give-away! :) yay! if i could pick something i'd order - it would be those go max bars from your last post - they look rock'n! mmmmmmmmm! also: dan and i made your black-eyed pea corn cakes - they were gloriously good. :) we made 'em gluten-free and i posted what we did on the tester site. i hope your weekend is most excellent, Bianca - and thanks for the great give-away!
